Dogodex is operated as a personal project based in Sweden. As the data controller, we determine the purposes and means of processing your personal data. For any privacy-related enquiries, contact us at privacy@dogodex.com.

We collect only the data necessary to provide the Dogodex service:

• Providing the service (contractual necessity — Art. 6(1)(b)): account creation, authentication, dog profiles, social features, walk tracking.
• AI breed scanning and chat (contractual necessity + legitimate interest — Art. 6(1)(b)(f)): photos and queries sent to Google Gemini AI. Images processed transiently and not retained for training.
• Park discovery and check-ins (legitimate interest — Art. 6(1)(f)): location data used to show nearby parks and optional public check-ins.
• App improvement and crash reporting (legitimate interest — Art. 6(1)(f)): Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics.
• Legal compliance (legal obligation — Art. 6(1)(c)): retaining records where required by law.

Firebase / Google Cloud (Google LLC)

Firebase Authentication stores your email and password hash. Cloud Firestore stores profile data, dog profiles, posts, and chat history. Firebase Storage stores uploaded photos. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics collect anonymous usage and crash data. Data may be stored within the EEA or transferred under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

Google Gemini AI (Google LLC)

The AI breed scanner and Ask Dogo chat send images and text queries to Google's Gemini API. Under our API terms, this data is used to generate responses and is not used to train Google's models.

• Account and profile data: retained until you delete your account.
• Posts, photos, and user-generated content: retained until deleted by you or until account deletion.
• Walk and location data: retained until you delete it or your account is closed.
• Crash logs and analytics: automatically aggregated and de-identified after 14 months.
• AI chat messages: stored in Firestore until you delete conversations or your account.

After account deletion, your personal data is removed from our active systems within 30 days. Backup copies may be retained for up to 90 days before permanent deletion.

Contact us at privacy@dogodex.com. We will respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) at imy.se.

Precise location data is only accessed with your explicit permission (iOS/Android system prompt). Used for park discovery, walk tracking, and park check-ins. You can revoke location permission at any time in device Settings — the app remains functional for other features.

Dogodex is not directed at children under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided personal data without consent, contact privacy@dogodex.com and we will delete it promptly.

• Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text (Firebase Authentication).
• All data transmission is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS.
• Firestore Security Rules restrict data access so users can only read/write their own data.
• Firebase Storage rules ensure photos are only accessible to authenticated users.

The Dogodex app includes links to third-party pet product retailers. Some are affiliate links — if you make a purchase, Dogodex may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend products relevant to dog owners.

When we make significant changes, we will notify you via in-app notification or email. The "Last updated" date reflects when the policy was last revised. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
